"As Light as a Feather"

"As light as a feather" was the response from a young girl (who will remain nameless for now) who was asked how she felt after renouncing past sins, forgiving the offenders in her life, and accepting forgiveness from Jesus.

Just a couple months prior, this young girl of 13 years was in a position in her life that prevented her from seeing any hope. She heard voices in her head to cut herself, so she did, and she proceeded to overdose on pills. Her parents asked for help and when Pastor Amado from Rosamorada came to pray for her, she had no side effects.

Her and her family began being discipled and she participated in our recent youth outreach, EL RETO. And, most recently, participated in our Freedom in Christ Conference. Now, when she hears voices in her head telling her to cut herself, she tells them "No! I'm not going to cut myself anymore!". Those voices have gone mute.

Thank you so much for your consistent prayers and support of this ministry. This is your Investment in the Kingdom, when you pray and give. People's lives are being changed because of your partnership.

Freedom In Christ Conference - December 2023

It was almost surprising to see that over half of the people who signed up to come, were not able to make it at the very last minute...most of them got sick. If there is anything the enemy does not want is for us to know that he has already been defeated, and how we can be free in Christ through understanding our Identity in Christ. This material is very impactful and every time we do this, people are set free. The battle is in our mind, if the enemy can convince us that he is strong and we have no hope, he has gained ground in our lives. But, it's all deception. Satan is the master deceiver.

For those who came, it was definitely a victory for them. One man shared that for the first time he realized it was his responsibility to teach his kids about God, he always thought that was the Pastor's job. He took home with him some very valuable truths to put into practice.

A lady mentioned that she never took thought to forgiveness. She realized that "if I don't forgive, I'm stuck; I will never be able to move forward!" The Lord healed her of past hurts during the conference.

Another girl who recently attempted suicide was set free from her bondages. While we were renouncing sins, she was so surprised that what she had done was sitting there in front of her on the paper, ready to be renounced. She excitedly got up and told her pastor, "This is what happened to me!!", and with a willing heart, renounced the deceptive lies that she had believed. Now, when a thought comes, she nips it in the bud and says, "No! I'm not going to cut myself anymore!". She is winning the battle! After renouncing, forgiving, and accepting forgiveness, she said she felt "as light as a feather".

Thank you for your partnership with us as we help people change their lives!

Investment in the Kingdom: Forgiveness is Freeing

On our way back to Cofradía, we stopped by our friends' church in Culiacán, Cordero Y Leon. They adjusted one of their meetings in order for us to be able to participate in their service. About a dozen people came to the late evening service and we just sat around a table and talked together. This church had just finished the 13 week Discipleship Course called Freedom In Christ; one of our staples in our ministry. I asked those who had participated what their experience was and how the Lord impacted their life. Each one mentioned just like most others who take the course, that the section on forgiveness spoke to them the most. More than one said, "I didn't realize that I had not forgiven (either someone in their life or themselves)". Forgiveness is Freeing!

Thank you for Investing in the Kingdom of God and partnering with us! Some of you have given and contributed to Pastor Rodrigo and his church Cordero y Leon in Culiacán. This is part of your investment.

Lead Pastors of Centro Cristiano la Cofradía United
Cofradia de Cuyutlán, Nayarit

Warmest greetings to all of you who, through your prayers and financial assistance, support us in the progress of the ministry of Cofradía Christian Center. During the first six months of 2022, we have focused on the theme “Time to Go Fishing,” and we have seen very good results so far. During Sunday services, we have been encouraging one another to visit with the townspeople as well as with our brothers and sisters in Christ, although we have focused primarily on investing in our leadership by leading them through the course The Balance between Faith and Grace. We met together every Wednesday morning at 6:00 a.m. over the past twenty weeks to grow in our understanding of how grace and faith work together to produce life and encourage us to rest in God. As a result, I have observed noticeable and consistent growth in those who have participated, which has been a great blessing.

We are offering this same course in our leadership school. It began on June 14 and will end on October 11.

At the end of 2022, on December 15–17, we will host the Freedom in Christ seminar. This course has proven very effective in helping people understand their true identity in Christ.

We had planned to implement the Cofradía Kitchen in other locations, but that has not come to fruition yet. Thank you for your prayers that we will be able to get this going.

Thank you to all of you who partner with us to ensure that the ministry of Centro Cristiano continues moving forward. Thank you for your generosity!

Hello! Brothers and sisters, it is with great pleasure and joy that I take up my pen to write a little about how grateful I am for your financial support. Thank you!!

I also want to share with you a glimpse into what we’re doing in the Lord. Know, brothers and sisters, that we are well, thank the Lord. Kenia is still at university preparing to become a nurse. I give thanks to God that He continues to teach us through a discipleship class every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

I am also praying that God will use me in a service project that is intended to bless people who have been incarcerated in the past because of drug trafficking. They have lost their youth and their health and find themselves alone, their lives devoid of affection, compassion, physical provision (roof, food, medicine). And of course, I do not overlook their greatest need: to be saved by Jesus Christ.

I am moved to embark on this project by Matthew 11:28, in which the Lord offers relief and peace for those who are tired and trodden down by the world. For that reason we welcome the disabled, drug addicts, alcoholics, and anyone who is heavy-laden and tired.

Brothers and sister, this endeavor is broad in vision and of great significance which consists of this message of relief and peace in order to bless serving and being served. Thank you!

Receive warmest greetings for Maria and Kenia along with my most sincere gratitude. Thank you, brothers and sisters!

Lead Pastors of Casa de Oración, La Hermosa
Director of Restoration Center, El Faro de Esperanza
Rosamorada, Nayarit

Greetings;

The Leadership is growing in our church through our training courses, the goal of which is that they live in their true freedom and produce fruit.

On Mondays we have been ministering to a family from here in Rosamorada.

Tuesdays we have been hosting a marriage course.

Wednesdays we have a Discipleship class for the congregation and on Thursdays, we have a discipleship course for the youth as well as a general prayer and intercession meeting. The youth are being discipled using the course The New You and The Holy Spirit.

We are making plans to begin offering marriage counseling on Fridays in the town of Las Pilas and on Saturdays our youth meet in Cofradía.

Sundays are our main service where everyone meets together.

A teacher training course was provided so that we are able to host a vacation Bible school this summer.

We celebrated our eights anniversary as a church, enjoying the fellowship of sister churches and the preaching of our fellow pastor, Gregorio.

We also celebrated Mother’s Day with all the mothers in our church.

Work continues in our rehabilitation ministry, The Lighthouse. We are working through the course Freedom in Christ with our current resident, along with his family. We are also providing them with marriage counseling and the marriage course from Victor and Gloria Richards.

Regarding our rehabilitation ministry, we are in need of a new six-burner stove, a larger refrigerator, three complete bunkbed sets, and kitchen cookware (pots and pans). Regarding property, we continue looking for property in the right location. There have been discussions with the Commissioner and some of the town counsels as we try to figure out the best option for the project of building our facility.

Thank you,
Pastor Amado

Hello!

We are the ministry Restoration and Life in Las Varas. These past six months have not been easy in our lives. One of my children, Ruben Jr., was diagnosed with cancer. He is the oldest, at 21 years old and is living with his Aunt in Houston, Texas. We have experienced the hand of God and the spiritual and financial support of our friends and pastors in this season. Our son is going through a very complicated process, just as we are. His cancer is stage three. We ask for your prayers for our lives and for his. We continue in the ministry, continuing to do what God has called us to do on His behalf and trusting that He is already working a miracle in the life of our son. Blessings to you and thank you for your support.

Pastor Alan Orozco
Lead Pastor of Comunidad Aliento de Vida
Tepic, Nayarit

Hello!

I am Freddy Alan Contreras Magallanes, pastor of Breath of Life Community Church in the San Cayetano neighborhood of Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico.

In planting this church, we first plan to begin meeting in homes where we may share a message from God’s Word intended specifically for that home and seek ways of spending time together and support those families, including helping with whatever is necessary to be able to meet in that home, be it food, financial support, support for physical ailments, and, most importantly, spiritual support.

We seek to follow the example of the first apostles in Acts 2:44–45. That is part of the mission we currently have before us as a church, which is that every person have a place to meet together where they may come to recognize that they are free, that they are loved, and that it is God Himself who sustains the work and to whom we have unfettered access. As it says in Acts 17:24, He is “the God who made the world and everything in it.”

Currently, we are renting a large house in which we hold our Sunday services, and our youth group meetings are held at the home of one of the brothers.

I will be getting married on October 28 of this year to my fiance, Elizabeth Carolina Reyes Serafín, who is a strong and essential part of this ministry that God has created.

Thank you,

Alan Contreras

Pastors Rodrigo Romero and Annel
Cordero y Leon
Culiacán, Sinaloa

Greetings to all who may read this.

We are the pastors Rodrigo Romero (32 years old) and Annel Sánchez (33 years old). We have been married six years, and we have served the Lord since our adolescence. We are a missionary couple. I, Rodrigo, am from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and my wife, Annel, is from La Cruz, Mexico. Currently, we pastor a congregation in the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa, where we have served since August 2019. We began with great excitement and expectation, and although the COVID-19 pandemic prohibited the normal activities of the church, the Lord helped us to comprehend His purposes. We could learn to be a church free of the trappings of routine, programmed gatherings or a physical building. We could do things like taking food to hospitals or to migrant passengers on the train.

We have returned to our regular activities and services, and we have joined the missionary movement in the mountains of Nayarit, preaching the gospel to a small unreached indigenous people group, los “Cuares”, in two towns: Ojo de Agua and Guacamayas. Our intention is to eventually expand into the rest of the towns with the Word of God.

Our vision and longing as a church is to plant congregations in each city of the state of Sinaloa in Mexico. Currently we gather in the carport of the house we rent; there we have both our fellowship and teaching. Our dream is to have our own place to meet with more space for welcoming people in and a vehicle equipped for our missionary trips. Recently we became part of Cofradía United and are pleased to have mentors and family blessing us with their love, support, and wise counsel. The expectation we have in God’s plan is big, and we pray for the power to understand his desire and submit to it. To serve Christ is our entire life! Thank you for joining us. “The Lion and the Lamb” congregation is here to serve you in whatever way the gospel requires of us (2 Timothy 4:1-8)!

Freedom in Christ Conference

This past November we held a Freedom in Christ Conference. An intense three days of teaching and practical application. This year, we invited a couple Pastors and a couple Elders in our church to help teach.

Hugo Diaz led worship and taught two lessons,
Pastor Goyo organized everything and taught four lessons,
Pastor Abimael from Tuxpan taught two lessons,
Pastor Amado taught one lesson,
Chuy Hernández, Pastor Goyo's son, taught one lesson,
I taught three lessons, and
Mari, Pastor Luis' widow, helped us again with the media projection.

It's always a great time together. We had about a dozen participants. In the end, testimonies included one man who was a former pastor that said, "I never gave my identity in Christ any thought". Another said after spending 25 years in a legalistic church, "I finally discovered who I am in Christ." He was a worship leader and fell into drugs for 13 years. After a brother in the Lord told him he had been condemned and lost his salvation, he gave up hope. He was able to regain that hope in Christ. It's never too late to come back home.

Here is a short video of our time together...

Thank you for partnering with us and supporting this ministry. You are helping change lives!

Struggling Married Couple

In our last update, we shared a prayer request regarding a married couple struggling to stay together. We worked with them all month leading them through the Freedom in Christ course as well as the Grace course a few weeks later. This couple whom I will keep anonymous, came to us ready to separate, they were living without hope. They once had a vibrant walk with the Lord as they led others to Christ as well. But, because of letting down their guards and allowing strongholds of fear and addictions to overtake them, they arrived at a dark place in their marriage that seemed helpless.

We believe the message of the two courses are only a tool to help us recognize our true identity in Christ. It is the work of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God being planted as a seed that allows people to "come back to their senses".

After the first day of classes, the wife said, "I can't wait for tomorrow!" We finished the first course in one week and sent them home with a "tool bag" of truth for them to begin to use in their every day life. When they came back for the second course, they were noticeably different than when they first arrived a few weeks earlier. They had smiles on their faces and sat closer to one another. At the end of that week of studying the Grace course, we had a dinner all together with Pastors Goyo and Luis and their families before they left. And, on the spur of the moment, we offered to guide them through their marriage vows once again. They accepted without hesitation and began a new life together. Praise God!! They left here with a new perspective, the Word of God in their hearts, and tools to help them "fix" issues when they surface. Thank you so much for your prayers and support of this ministry. This is certainly an area that you were involved in. Thank you for partnering with us at La Cofradia United!!

Grace Conference 2020

It is always a joy to be able to share about God's love and grace. This course on Grace has impacted my life personally as it has opened my eyes up to how much God really loves us. Just the fact that He loved us even when He was the last thing on our mind is incredible. He loves us, accepts us, and wants the best for us. That is a great motivation for loving Him.

This conference is supposed to be extended to 6 or 7 weeks of meetings. Because of so many that come from out of town, we have done this over a period of three days.

The message is that we love and obey God because we want to, not because we "have to." It's an amazing thing to understand God's love for us. Once we do, we will be motived by love instead of the false motivations that we get tangled into sometimes: guilt, shame, fear, pride.

Freedom in Christ is accessible. It's a freedom to obey God and not be enslaved by sin anymore.

Thank you for investing in God's Kingdom and helping us Raise Up Leaders in Rural Mexico.

Pastors' Perspectives 20.2

Every six months, the pastors that are connected to our ministry share an bi-annual update from their perspective on what the Lord is doing in their areas of ministry to let you know what's going on and how to pray. Your investment is making progress in the Kingdom of God. Thank you for your donations and prayers!

Pastor Gregorio Hernández
Lead Pastor of Centro Cristiano Cofradia
Cofradia, Nayarit

The past six months have been somewhat difficult due to the state of emergency that has gripped the world. Because of this, we have not been able to gather as a congregation, but we are sure it is for the best and allows us to minister to the vulnerable.

Specifically, we have begun a men’s meeting centered on the book The Resolution for Men by Stephen and Alex Kendrick, forming small groups of three to four men, with a total of fifteen attending. We have seen growth in these men. One man in particular was experiencing serious trouble in his marriage, but he has been attending for three weeks now and during that time GOD has worked wonders in the lives of him and his wife, to the point that they are now ministering to others together as a couple.

We hope to continue these meetings and inviting other men to join us with the hope of continuing to reach and disciple others. We see that this time has been of great blessing so we want others to have the same opportunity for growth as we pursue our goal of raising up leaders here in the church.
Concerning the leadership school, we hope to resume classes in July, and we will study Traditions and Customs of the Biblical Lands. With God’s help, and yours, we can be part of extending God’s kingdom throughout this region of Mexico.

Friends, I thank you for your prayers, support, and active participation in the ministry of La Cofradía United.

With much gratitude,
Sincerely,
Pastors Gregorio and Maty Hernández-Espinoza

“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”  —John 7:38

This passage has been on my heart during this season. The rivers of His Spirit flow from my heart during this pandemic because I have believed as the Scriptures say. I want to encourage you all to believe, as the Scriptures teach, because if the rivers of the Spirit are not running in our hearts, it is possible we are believing a lie.
At the beginning of this year, with help from God and from you, my faithful brothers and sisters, we were able to complete the construction of our own home. We are so happy and grateful to God and you all for the great faithfulness that has been shown to my family and me in this season.

As you already know, due to the virus that arrived in Mexico around the beginning of March, we have suspended gatherings in our church building, but my family and I have continued to worship together in our hearts and our home, as well as with those whom we invite over or whom we visit in order to encourage them to follow Christ in the midst of these circumstances. We also gathered with the elders of the church each Sunday to encourage them by means of a discipleship class of 15 sessions that concluded on June 21. It was a season of much internal growth for everyone who attended. In the first week of July, I will begin meeting weekly with two friends in order to lead them through this same book.

Due to the virus, we are anxiously waiting to see if we will be able to do EL RETO this year. I have been thinking about some ideas for the event, but have not decided on anything concrete yet. We continue to hope that God will make a way for it to happen.

Prayer requests:
  • That my daughter would be able to return to her residence at the university so she can continue her studies (she had to leave because of the pandemic).
  • That we would continue united and focused in our marriage and responsibilities.
  • For my son Ángel who is battling with the rebelliousness of adolescence (though nothing serious).
  • That the youth in our church would seek God even at their young age.
  • For our congregation, that fire for God would continue to burn in their hearts because during this season of suspended gatherings, some are struggling in their relationship with God.

As always, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you have done for us because of your love and passion.

Gratefully yours,
The Vázquez-Sicairos Family

Greetings! It is with much pleasure that I take up paper and pen to offer you my deepest gratitude for your generosity toward us. I hope that this letter finds you well and rejoicing in good health. That is the desire of us all as we always remember how much God has blessed us through the knowledge of His love for us. It is with joy that I tell you my daughter, Kennia, completed high school in June. I pray she will find a university program in which to continue her professional preparation and in that way equip herself to serve others even more effectively.

We have also had the opportunity to host another round of the discipleship course Freedom in Christ, based on the book by Neil T. Anderson. For me personally, it has brought more freedom for me and for others. It continues to be a substantial part of my walk with Jesus. I thank God for involving me in this dynamic movement of ministry in this area, and I am grateful for this vision of my pastors and leaders. Brothers, there is much more I could say, but I don’t want to forget to tell you thank you! Thank you for your support and backing. Receive greetings from María and Kennía, and from me my profound gratitude.

Sincerely,
Pastor Horacio Garzón-Orozco

Greetings. Brothers and sisters, here I offer you my gratitude for all that you have done in my life. To begin, I thank God for all that you are doing, and that you are pleased to do. I also thank God for the money you send because it makes it possible to purchase ministry materials and to host outreach events.

Thank you, brothers and sisters, for all that you do for me. I know that God will reward all your efforts. And so I say may God bless you.

Pastor Amado Verdin
Lead Pastor of Casa de Oración, La Hermosa
Director of Restoration Center, El Faro de Esperanza
Rosamorada, Nayarit

In February, we received a donation from a Christian group that does house construction, which we invested in aluminum roofing sheets for the roof of the restoration center.

On March 9, we admited our first resident to Lighthouse of Hope Restoration Center. He has been with us now for three months. According to our admittance agreement, he has already completed the blood testing required by law, and he has complied with all resident regulations. His daily activities begin when he wakes at 6:00 a.m. to prepare for his first devotional; then from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., he attends Bible study classes on restoration, using a lesson book, a study guide, and his Bible. From 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., he attends vocational classes—on Fridays he it’s electrician training, and the rest of the week it’s mechanics training—so that when he leaves the restoration center, he will be able to get a job and contribute to society. At the very beginning, he also took the Freedom in Christ course, which lasted approximately two weeks.
We now have a Facebook page so that more people may find us through social media. Sometimes we post ministry updates there, being careful to protect the identity and security of our residents. Here is a link to our page:
Over the months, we have received calls to admit more residents, but due to the pandemic we are currently experiencing, the State Counsel Against Addictions (CECA) has prohibited us from admitting anyone new until further notice.

Due to the fact that we did not have adequate facilities for our church, we were gathering in a borrowed facility. La Cofradía United blessed us financially for this necessary construction project.

On June 16, we received a donation of one full and one twin mattress for the restoration center.
